Hi. I bought my wedding dress 2nd hand some time ago and get married on 16th May this year. Do you do wedding dress alterations and when is the best time to get the dress dry cleaned and altered? I'm in the process of losing weight for the big day so conscious that if I get the dress altered too soon then it may not fit on the day. Any advice would be helpful then I can arrange a time to come in? Can you also give an estimate for pricing alteration? thanks

Hello, I am getting married in April (12th) and have bought my dress. Unfortunately it is a little large and needs adjusting so that it fits well. Please could I make an evening appointment if possible with you to discuss this. After looking at your website I am sure this is something that you will be able to do and make a lovely job of. Kind regards Sarah

Hi Wendy, Thanks for your email, Regarding making a dress 'Lace up' Yes it is something we can do, although for a price i would really need to see the dress and what exactly it requires. I could then advice you what is the best option and of cost. Best thing to do is Call the shop on 0161330 7006 and book in for a fitting and a No Obligation Quote. I hope this is of some assistance to you. Kind Regards Sara

Hi, I was wondering if u could help. I have brought my daughter a holy communion dress which she loves but does not fit and i can not zip it up. I can not get the next size up as it is no longer available. It is lined so i don't know how much it can be taken out. Was wondering if a lace tie up could be added to the back of the dress instead of taking it out. Do u offer that type of service and if so how much? Many thanks Wendy

Hi Anne , Thanks for your enquiry, Generally we can add a 'false hem' which allows you to drop the remainding hem on a dress/skirt or trousers. But occasionally where a split is they cut away any excess fabric in the corners. Which means you cant drop the hem.... its hard to say for definite without seeing the actual garment. My best advise would be to bring the dress in for me to check. Im sorry i cant answer 100% without actually seeing your dress. You dont need an appointment you can just call in with the dress and i can give you an answer 1 way or the other. We are Open week days 10-5pm Tues Closed and Sat 10-3pm. Hope iv satisfied your enquiry. Kind Regards Sara

Hi I ordered a wool silk dress suit from Hobbs for my daughters wedding in April however the dress is a little too short for my taste. The dress has a quite fitted skirt on it and a split at the back. Would it be possible to let the hem down to lengthen it? Thanks Ann

Hi there,I would like to know if you are able to shorten my wedding dress from full length to cocktail length. It is a Suzanne Neville 'Canet' in silk. If possible could you give me a lead time and an approximate price for the alteration. Regards Hayley

Hi Jo, The best thing would be to call the shop for a price, we need to know the overall width of the curtains and also style ie: if they have a 'heading tape' top or a tab/ring top. call 0161 330 7006 and ask for a price giving the above info and the fact they are lined also. Regards Sara

Hi Gemma, in response to your question. Yes necklines can be reshaped into a sweetheart style neckline. All beading has to be secured and detail placed back after the alteration has been completed. hope this answers your question. Regards Sara.
Gemma said on Apr 7, 2011 3:18 AM
Hello Can you alter a straight wedding dress into a sweetheart shape if it has beading at top? Thank you

Hi Kelly, Altering your coat would be fine and you can be looking from £15 to £45... this can depend on the fit on the sleeves and shoulders as well as the bodice..... if it is just the basic body then approx £15-£25 if it includes sleeves body and shoulders you can be looking upto £45, I Recommend you call in for a fitting and a NO OBLIGATIONS QUOTE. hope this helps. Hi Christine, In general we do alter and repair leather items. although i can not give a 100% positive anwer without seeing the actual repair required. as for re-lining a bag, it can depend on the details involved and thickness of the bag. so really we would need to see the bag to give you a proper answer. i hope this is of some assistance. regards Sara

Hi Jen, first of all id advise you to shop around and try the dress your are interested in at shops here in uk,to give you more idea, check on fit and size before ordering from america.i have looked briefly at the dress you have stated your interest in, and i cant see a problem with any alterations, i also advise you to be realistic regarding weight loss, dont put to much pressure on yourself! also check if they do the dress in extra length, i hope this is of some assistance for now Jen. and goodluck with your choice of dress. please feel free to email me for any further info you may require. Regards. Sara

Hi I just have an initial enquiry. I am getting married in October 2011, and have already found a beautuful dress that I love. It is Impressions 2980. I know that I would need a number of alterations made to the dress, as I am 5'11, and am a G-cup bra. In the UK to buy the dress I have been quoted £1000, but can get from the US for a fraction of the price. I have not yet tried the dress on, and am planning to lose a lot of weight before my wedding, but just wondered, initially would it be possible to make such alterations to this dress, if I was to but this from the US? Many thanks Jen
